From Spiritual Hustle to Sacred Surrender: What a Tech Outage Taught Me About God

Since I launched v1.0 of my app, The Healing Mind, in 2022, we’ve had our fair share of technical "adventures."

Last year was particularly brutal. When our original developers couldn’t get the app back online, I had to redevelop the entire platform from scratch – twice. That year brought me face-to-face with my deepest shadows: my need for control, my lack of trust, and my absolute terror of uncertainty.

I was the definition of the "spiritual hustle." I was constantly checking in with psychics, obsessing over my birth chart, and refreshing my horoscope just to find a date—any date—for when things would finally "get better." I lost sleep, I lost hair, and I lived in a state of constant, vibrating fear. I felt like a failure who was letting everyone down.

Eventually, the app stabilized. We grew. We ran ads. But then, earlier this year, I felt a nudge to stop "pushing" for growth and return my focus to my 1:1 healing work. I thought I had finally found balance.

And then, the app went down again last week.

In the past, this would have sent me into a spiral. But this time? I was completely calm. As the emails from concerned users came in, my internal dialogue wasn't "I’m failing." Instead, it was: “I am okay. I am safe. Things are working out perfectly.”

I realized my nervous system had been rewired. I wasn't just saying I trusted life; I was finally living it. And that shift started with a conversation I never expected to have.

The Anniversary Trip That Changed Everything

Last September, on the last night of our 10th wedding anniversary trip, my husband turned to me and said, “I think we should start going back to church.”

My ego had a minor meltdown. I grew up in the church, but I hadn’t been attending for the last 20 years. During that time, I explored every spiritual philosophy under the sun, and going back to church felt like "going backwards." It felt like a box.

But I stayed open. I’ve come to learn that when my husband has a sense of direction for our family, it’s usually the right one—even if I am kicking and screaming a bit along the way.

I began to realize that for twenty years, I had lost foundational trust in a Higher Power. Sure, I still looked for signs and felt connected to The Universe, but I realized that being "connected" to the Divine and "surrendering" to the Divine are two different things.

Deep down, I felt like if I let go of my grip, everything would fall apart. I had the connection, but I was still trying to drive the car. But the more I sat in that pew each Sunday, the more I was reminded of a simple, grounding truth: God is in control. I am not.

The Three Minds: Conscious vs. Superconscious

To understand why "trying harder" often makes things worse, we have to look at the architecture of the mind. In The Game of Life and How to Play It, Florence Scovel Shinn explains that we have three distinct levels of consciousness:

  • The Conscious Mind (The Ego): This is the analytical mind. It observes the world as it appears to be—focusing on the tech outage, the empty bank account, or the physical symptom. It’s often limited by fear and "vain imaginings."

  • The Subconscious Mind (The Servant): This is a "faithful servant" with the power to manifest but no direction. It is passive and simply accepts whatever is impressed upon it. It doesn’t know the difference between a truth and a lie; it just manifests the records we’ve given it.

  • The Superconscious Mind (The Divine Mind): This is the "God within." It is the realm of intuition, perfection, and the "Divine Design" for your life.

Most modern manifestation teachings tell us "You are the creator." But when we try to create from the Conscious/Ego mind alone, it’s a heavy, exhausting hustle. We become so attached to how the money will arrive or when our love interest will call, that we actually block the solution with our own limited thinking.

Aligning the Blueprint

True manifestation is about moving out of the driving seat and becoming the Conscious Passenger. The process is simple: the Superconscious contains the perfect pattern; the Conscious mind must impress that pattern onto the Subconscious; and the Subconscious then creates that reality.

Shinn emphasized using the "spoken word" to reprogram the subconscious. In my work with The Healing Mind, we take this a step further. We use subliminal audios to bypass the analytical Conscious mind entirely, imprinting the Subconscious directly with truths from the Superconscious. This avoids the "ego resistance" that usually kicks in when we try to change our lives.

Casting the Burden – The Ultimate Surrender

But what do we do when we are in the middle of the storm? Florence’s secret was a radical act: Casting the Burden.

She taught that the moment you realize you’re spiraling, you must pray: "I cast this burden on the Christ within, and I go free!"

When you say this, you are performing a specific energetic shift. You are consciously moving the problem out of the Conscious Mind (which is limited by what it can see, hear, and touch) and handing it over to the Superconscious (the part of us that is one with God).

The "and I go free" part is the most important. It means you stop obsessing. You stop the "spiritual hustle." You stop checking in with psychics to find a timeline. You go back to your life—baking bread, playing sports, being with your family—with the total trust that everything is working out behind the scenes.

The Purpose in the "Problems"

I now believe this recent app outage happened for a reason. It happened to show me—and you—that your peace is not dependent on your circumstances.

When you align with the Superconscious, you realize that even a "service outage" can be a sacred nudge. It’s an invitation to stop gripping the wheel so tight that your knuckles turn white. It’s a call to drop into your heart and say, "I don't know how this will be fixed, but I know that it will."

A Final Invitation to Let Go

If you are currently in a "tech outage" of your own life—if things aren't going the way you planned, or you’re tired of the spiritual hustle—I want you to take a deep breath and feel this shift with me right now.

Surrender isn't giving up; it’s moving into a higher state of authority by admitting you don't have to carry it all. You are allowed to be okay even when the "app" of your life is down. You are allowed to be safe even in the middle of the unknown.

Stop trying to force the timeline. Align with the Superconscious, and let the Divine take care of the rest.

Things aren't just "going to be okay." They already are.

Where to go from here: If you’re ready to stop the spiritual hustle and start living as the Conscious Passenger, there are two ways we can work together to rewrite your internal records:

  • The Healing Mind App: I created the app specifically to help you heal and manifest with ease. The meditations and subliminals inside are designed to imprint your subconscious directly with the truths of the Superconscious. If you need support in "Casting the Burden" and returning to a state of peace, start with the Surrender Deeply or Become Receptive tracks.

  • Remote Energy Healing Sessions: If you feel a specific, stubborn blockage that is making it hard for you to let go of the "grip," a 1:1 session allows us to dive deep into your unique energy body. Together, we can clear the subconscious blocks so you can finally feel safe in the unknown.

Whatever path you choose, remember: you don’t have to figure out the "how." Your only job is to align with the Truth and let the Divine take the wheel.
