How Energy Healing Can Help Codependency

Wouldn’t it be amazing if we learned about our energy as children? Many believe that until the age of 7, children are deeply connected to their mother (or primary caretaker) via an energetic cord from the parent’s Sacral chakra to the child’s Solar Plexus. The parent imprints the child mentally and energetically so they learn to understand the world. Over the subsequent years, the cord remains, but the intensity of the connection diminishes as the child gains more energetic independence and moves into adulthood.

As we grow past age 7, it would be so helpful to learn how to manage our energy and maintain healthy connections with others. However, it’s never too late to learn how to heal and work with our subtle energy bodies. So today, let’s look at codependency, one of the most common relationship issues, and how energy healing can help us create healthy boundaries and connect.

What Is Codependency?

Codependency is a term often used to describe a pattern of behavior in which a person becomes overly involved in the needs and problems of others. This can manifest in many different ways, from constantly rescuing or enabling others, to sacrificing one's own needs and wants to please friends, family, and romantic partners.

But—pleasing people is good, right? Doesn’t looking out for other people mean we care? Absolutely. However, when a connection becomes codependent, it goes beyond healthy levels of showing care and concern and renders one or both people unable to function separately from the person with whom they’ve developed the codependent relationship. It’s common for codependent adults to struggle to be alone, feel unable to make their own decisions, or believe that other people are ultimately responsible for their life.

For instance, if you have a codependent relationship with a romantic partner, you might not be able to feel happy if they are frustrated about something in their life, or if you have a codependent relationship with your child, you might focus all of your attention on their well-being instead of continuing to grow and develop in your life.

Most people develop codependency as children due to a variety of factors:

  1. Enabling behavior: When parents make excuses for or try to fix their child's problems, it can create a pattern of codependency.

  2. Overprotectiveness: When parents are overly protective of their child, it can prevent them from developing the skills and confidence they need to handle life's challenges.

  3. Emotional neglect: When parents are emotionally unavailable or neglectful, children may learn to rely on others for validation and emotional support.

  4. Poor boundaries: When parents fail to establish healthy boundaries with their children, it can create confusion and lead to codependent behavior.

  5. Trauma or abuse: Children who have experienced trauma or abuse may develop codependency as a coping mechanism.

It's important to note that not all children who grow up with these issues will become codependent, and not all codependency is caused by childhood experiences. However, it's a good idea to be aware of these possible issues.

How Energy Healing Can Help In Codependency Recovery

Energy healing can be a powerful tool in helping to break the cycle of codependency. This is because energy healing works on a holistic level, addressing not only the physical symptoms of codependency but also the emotional and spiritual causes. So often, even if we understand codependency on an intellectual level, we still struggle unconsciously with stagnant and unbalanced energy.

Here are some ways that energy healing can help those struggling with codependency:

  1. Promoting relaxation and reducing stress

When we are in a constant state of stress, our bodies and minds become imbalanced, leading to various physical and emotional symptoms. Energy healing can help reduce stress by calming the nervous system and promoting peace and well-being.

  2. Facilitating self-care and self-love

Many people who struggle with codependency have difficulty setting boundaries, taking care of themselves, or even recognizing who they are apart from the people around them. They may feel guilty or ashamed for putting their own needs first and might focus on how other people feel instead of how they feel. Energy healing can help to promote self-care by helping individuals to connect with their inner wisdom and to trust in their ability to make healthy choices for themselves.

  3. Releasing emotional blockages

When we hold onto negative emotions such as anger, fear, and guilt, they can become trapped in our bodies and manifest as physical symptoms. They can also keep us energetically connected to people that are not healthy for us. When we release these emotions, it leaves space for healthier connections to blossom with the people who are important to us. The Healing Mind App has a meditation specifically for cord cleansing, which is an energetic practice that clears out lower vibration connections between individuals.

  4. Helping individuals to develop a deeper sense of self-awareness and self-acceptance

Many people who struggle with codependency have difficulty identifying and expressing their needs and wants. They may feel guilty or ashamed for being different from others or having different needs. Energy healing can help to promote self-awareness and self-acceptance by helping individuals to connect with their inner wisdom and to trust in their unique path.

It's important to note that energy healing should not be considered as the sole solution for codependency and should be used in conjunction with therapy and other forms of treatment. Working with a professional practitioner who can guide and support you in your healing journey is always good.

If you or someone you know is struggling with codependency, consider seeking an energy healer or other holistic practitioner to explore how energy healing can help alongside therapy and additional help. With the right support and guidance, it is possible to break the cycle of codependency, heal energetic imbalances, create strong boundaries, and develop a healthier relationship with yourself and others.

The magic of energy healing is how it makes us feel.
